Devorah
Devorah...
Her music echoes across boundaries, uniting Jewish women and girls
from all walks of life. Her original compositions refuse to be limited. To experience Devorah in concert is in a word - remarkable, and as one fan put it, “her music is filled with a contagious joy, rejoicing in the celebration of being a Jewish woman”.
A native of Melbourne Australia, Devorah studied voice and music under the experienced hand of Audrey Duggan, Examiner for the Victorian College of the Arts.
Exploring her heritage awakened within her a deep love of G-d’s Torah,
His land and His people. Her path has led her on a journey that has enabled
her to combine her greatest passions; that of her spiritual essence as
it is expressed through her love of music. Realizing a dream, Devorah made
aliyah to Israel with her husband and children in the summer of 1998.
Through her music Devorah brings to life many of Judaism’s classic and contemporary issues, from terror attacks on the streets of Israel to the joys of motherhood, from the pain of today’s disenchanted youth to the power and beauty of the light of the Sabbath candles. Beautiful threads are woven in luminous colors, peeling off layers and arousing our inner soul. One is moved to tears, then moved to dance in deepest joy. The sweetness connects us with
the purity and strength that lies within.
As
Devorah herself expressed, “I read once that good art is a catalyst
to help those who experience it actualize their inner potential, helping
them visualize and bring about a better future that is within their
reach and expresses their truest inner will - I hope, on some level,
my work also helps in this regard.”
Above all else Devorah’s music is about empowerment, touching us and
arousing within us the appreciation that the future is indeed in our
hands.
To date Devorah has appeared in concert in the U.S., Australia and Israel
and has produced 4 albums.
